Manufacturing Technologies of the future - the Collaborative Research Center 814 Additive Manufacturing deals with the basic research of additive manufacturing processes. With additive technologies parts are produced from plastic or metal without any specific tooling. Away from rapid prototyping to manufacturing these technologies, are made fit within the CRC 814 to produce serial components in the desired quality.
Since 2011, more than 35 scientists are working at the FAU on this interdisciplinary major project. In his talk Professor Drummer gives an overview of the goals, the structure and the people involved in the CRC 814 and would like to inspire you for those exciting, visionary production technologies. Furthermore, in the talk exemplary results of process adapted polymer characterization, powder production, enlargement of process reproducibility and predictive simulations will be shown.
